What is happening?

* President Alpha Conde, 82 years old is seeking re-election for his third presidential term.

* Guinea’s constitution limits presidential terms to no more than TWO 5 year terms.

* A new constitution in March was proposed by the president to modernize the country of New Guinea and also extend the term limits to THREE 6 year terms. This new constitution was APPROVED.

* This not only lets him run for a third term, but it potentially lets him run for TWO MORE because the new constitution resets the two terms that were already served.

* This means that the president is looking to stay in power for the next 18 YEARS.

* Alpha Conde has cheated and bribed his way into being elected and has just done so again in the 2020 election.

* This has triggered months of deadly unrest; 200 injured, 70 imprisoned, 90 killed in protests since last October

* Guinean military are shooting citizens in the streets of Guinea who do not support the president’s decision to run for a third term.

* The government is NOT being held accountable for their actions; Guinea’s constitution is being ignored by Conde’s authoritarianism and is not allowing the freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

* Guinea’s citizens are being SILENCED through violence imposed by the system made to protect them.
